Movement type and stroke
A bellows designed for axial movement will not tolerate permanent lateral deflection. Where several directions combine, the design has to reflect that.
Media and cleaning resistance
Not only the process medium counts but the cleaning agent too. Alkaline CIP cleaners attack some elastomers harder than the product itself.
Temperature range including peaks
Short sterilisation temperatures often exceed the continuous service limit. Check both figures in the data sheet.
Think about the fixing
Clamps, rings and connection dimensions belong in the order. A matching bellows with the wrong fixing is not a spare part.
Frequently asked questions
How do I measure a bellows correctly?
We need the inner diameter at both ends, the installed length in the relaxed state and the maximum stroke. In practice a photo with a tape measure next to the installed part saves a lot of back and forth.
Which material withstands cleaning agents?
EPDM is robust against alkaline cleaners and steam, FKM against oils and acids. A material that covers both equally well effectively does not exist — the choice follows the dominant load.
Are custom parts possible?
Yes. Bellows to drawing or as a replica of an old part can be sourced through our suppliers. We need dimensions, material, temperature and movement type.
Can I order bälge on account?
