Ordering industrial spare parts for delivery to Japan

A courier asking for money at the door always asks at the moment nobody can change anything — so the landed price is not a figure but a risk you order along with the part. On shukchok duty stands in the total before you agree to it, and the price above the specification table before you sign in.

Across the border

Duty stands in the cart, not at your door

You know how it goes. A part falls due, five suppliers get written to, and three quotations come back that mean different things. By the time one of them turns into a release, two weeks are gone — for a part that was manufactured long ago and sat on a shelf the whole time.

On a delivery into Japan a second uncertainty sits on top of that: what the courier will ask for at the door is something nobody knows in advance. That part is settled here before you order. Duty and import charges are collected during the ordering process and stand in the total. The amount you agree to is the amount.

That sounds like the kind of promise you only get to read after signing in, so it is up front instead: shukchok is an open marketplace for industrial goods, one you can buy from and list on — the price in yen at the position, and underneath it material, operating limits, design and size as a table. Which delivery term applies to an article is stated on the article.

  • A specification table on 114 of 114 articles — material, operating limits, design
  • Customs tariff number on 114 of 114, manufacturer named at every position
  • Purchase order number and cost centre as fields in the cart, both on the invoice

The demand on the ground

Four rhythms, one checkout

  • Ducts that measure without a pause

An incineration line, a sewage works, a gas-fired block: run a continuously monitored duct and you buy the same chain every time — sample gas cooler, PTFE filter element, water separator, and a seal at every joint. That chain sits in the diary, not in the fault log.

  • Steam networks after the survey

Traps do not get changed one at a time; they get changed after the survey, ten or twenty positions at once. One cart across several manufacturers is built for that shape of order. Five separate procurement events are not.

  • Workshops with no purchasing department

More than 40 % of the 3,584 manufacturing businesses in Tokyo’s Ota-ku employ three people or fewer. No framework contract, no vendor portal — a visible price and an immediate order is the route that fits that size of shop.

  • Makers who could be supplying instead

Japan builds its own valves, seals and analyser hardware. Manufacture or trade in any of it and you read this page from the other side: as a description of the demand for a range that can stand here without a listing fee.

For suppliers

Japan builds this itself — which is exactly why there is shelf space here for you

Make or trade in valves, seals, filters or sample gas equipment in Japan, and the first half of this page reads as a market description: ducts in continuous service, steam networks on a survey cycle, and 3,584 manufacturing businesses in a single Tokyo ward with nobody in them to run a tender. Those are your customers, and a marketplace puts them and your range at the same position.

Shelf space costs nothing, and that is not a launch offer with an expiry date: the earning happens on the margin of a position that sells, and nowhere else. You bring in the range and keep your prices in your own hand; the shop, the checkout, the invoicing and the customer contact are our job. What no article carries today — an inspection certificate to EN 10204, a calibration certificate, a PED category — arrives on exactly this route, from the suppliers who issue those papers anyway, lodged as article metadata.

  • No listing fee, no monthly fee, no manual product approval
  • Your range, your prices, published without waiting for a release
  • Manufacturer and supplier are named visibly at every position

Before the first order

Three questions that come in from Japan

Will the courier ask me for duty on delivery?
No. Duty and import charges are calculated during the ordering process and stand in the total; the courier presents nothing at the door. Which delivery term applies to an article is stated on the article.
What does shipping to Japan cost?
It is charged: 52.49 € for a parcel up to 2 kg, 93.49 € up to 10 kg, and above 30 kg it becomes freight. The free-shipping threshold is defined in euros and is not converted at a daily rate, so a cart priced in yen does not reach it.
I manufacture in Japan myself. What does listing here cost?
Nothing — no listing fee, no monthly fee, no manual product approval. You lodge the range, the prices and the papers; we take on the shop, the checkout, the invoicing and the customer contact. The earning happens on the margin of a position that sells.

Two ways in

See the price in yen — or put your range next to it

Duty and import charges stand in the total, your purchase order number and cost centre on the invoice. shukchok is the contracting party, whatever the number of manufacturers in the cart.
