Same valve, four answers — and only one of them holds
Phosphoric acid, lime kilns, a galvanising line and a brewhouse of more than 5 million hectolitres: four processes within sight of one river, and each of them destroys a different elastomer. The valve looks identical in all four. The seal inside it does not.
Which is why the expensive mistake here is never the price. It is the part that fits, gets fitted and then swells, hardens or is simply not food-grade — and is found out in service rather than in goods inwards.
