Wieland Electric GmbH, based in Bamberg, was founded in 1910 and today employs around 1,700 to 2,200 people. The company manufactures pluggable connection technology for building and industrial installation as well as safety technology for mechanical engineering, such as safety switches and safety relays. Well-known product brands are the gesis system for pluggable building installation, RST circular connectors and the WIPOS power supply series; according to the company, Wieland holds a market share of around 80 percent in pluggable building installation with gesis.
